A welcome series is the highest-leverage automation in email marketing. Industry data puts the open rate around 40-60% on the first email — 2-3× higher than any other automated send — because the recipient just opted in seconds ago.
Kovyo ships with a 3-email welcome series template. Activating it takes one click.
Activate the template
- Automations → Welcome series.
- Click Activate. The 3 emails are created in draft status and you’re shown the editor for the first one.
The 3 emails are:

Edit the content
Each email opens in the same visual editor as popups — click any
block to edit it inline. The discount code, store name, and
recipient name are inserted automatically via template variables
({{discount_code}}, {{shop_name}}, {{name}}).
Trigger condition
Welcome series fires on the email_capture event — i.e. someone
filling out a popup or subscribing through the Shopify checkout
opt-in. Re-subscribers don’t trigger again (we dedupe by email).
When to disable a step
- Step 2 if you have very few products or your category has long buying cycles (furniture, B2B).
- Step 3 if the discount has no expiry — the urgency message doesn’t fit.
Toggle individual emails on/off from the Automations list.
